I am getting confused reading the admissions policies (St Olaves) for my DS who is in year 5 now. He will be doing 11+ this September in 2015 for Sept 2016 entry. I thought this meant 2015/16, but some of the policies are vague, as his first year in secondary school is 2016/17 do the admissions policies for 16/17 apply?

Any ideas? It is relevant because St Olaves is changing from a single test in Sept 2015 to a 2 part test in the 16/17 policy. I am not sure if he will be doing the old fashioned test this Sept or the New 2 part test instead?

The new policy for 2016/17 was published in Dec 2014.

Test in September/October 2015 is for admission in September 2016. So the 2016/17 policy applies.

As above. Admission arrangements relate to the entry year. If a child is due to start in 16/17 that's the policy you need to be looking at. Part of it will of course relate to the 15/16 application year. And to confuse things further will have been determined during 14/15. Think of it as a three year cycle: Consult/Determine, Offer, Entry.
