For verbal reasoning the books I thought were most helpful were Susan Daughtrey's Verbal Reasoning Technique and Practice books 1-4. They take you through every sort of verbal reasoning question that you will be asked and give you examples and also practice tests.

For maths I think working through past papers from a variety of different schools was very helpful, as was doing a variety of different English comprehensions from past papers.

Good luck!

You will need to say what school(s) you are looking for. For instance The Susan Daughtrey books are great for GL VR but not really any good for CEM VR.

Thank you for the posts. The VR books sound interesting. We intend to go for the Bexley/ Kent and St Olave's 11+ tests.
