Where do you live sony? Generally you can sit most 11 plus exams but for many it is not worth it if you don't live in the catchment area. There are various threads on this forum about grammar schools with no catchment area, if you have a search. How many you can put on the CAF is a different matter and that does vary from area to area.

As way of example I live in the London Borough of Bromley. Our closest school is the only selective school in the entire borough that our daughter could attend so she will sit that test. Then we are near Kent, Kent has a two tier grammar system so if you pass regardless of score them next criteria for the lower tier is distance, for the superselectives it is different if you are 'in county' or 'out of county' scores reign supreme but you need a higher score out of county. Then we are also close to Bexley - there if you score in top 180 you can choose any of the grammars provided you put it on your CAF, if you just pass then it is down to distance. So it is very complicated and I'd recommend you post in the region closest to where you live.

In Bromley we get to put six schools on the CAF but in neighbouring Kent they get to put a max of four.

That is why sites like this are fantastic so you can research - but nothing quite like looking at schools you like the look of and checking their admissions criteria in conjunction with hostorical score or distance cut offs to see if it is worth sitting the exam.
