The new admission code seems to be being interpreted in some weird and wonderful ways.
What happens under this policy to a home-schooled child?

The same thing occurred to me. I can only assume they would be treated the same as private school pupils.
I think the problem here is that the authority uses feeder schools as one of its oversubscription criteria, which it is entitled to do under the Admissions Code. This is the case in many LAs, however it has been highlighted here (I assume) simply because the school in question is oversubscribed and the LA has chosen to use feeder schools over distance or 11+ score as an oversubscription factor.
If our local comp were oversubscribed, a child living outside the catchment area who attended a local feeder school would have priority over a child also living outside the catchment area but not at a feeder school - whether a private or non-feeder school. This scenario is possible but unlikely.
