Top Bexley Score 2016 test....

Post by grgygirl »

...was 262.

I thought it would be quite a bit nearer to 280.

That's interesting, where did you get this information?

Are you sure? The list I have seen is incomplete as nearly 600 children are not included. About 40 children are not in the top 180 list. The request I have seen says "Bexley and surrounding areas", so, maybe those other 600 (including the other 40 top children) children came from further afield.

Apologies for the late reply. The list I have seen is just the Top 180 scorers (although it actually goes to something like rank 193 as there were quite a few on 247). It lists the school, the scores for each section and the overall score of that pupil in Rank order. Top score seems to be 262 with only one pupil on that score.

This one is from 6th December 2016: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ ... ing-905820" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (hope that is OK to post moderators as it is a FOI request answer) and that has the top score of 262 that grgygirl refers to and 5091 sitters listed.

This one has the last one on a total of 247 at position 140, so is possibly the one that salsa referred to upthread?

Yes, it is. So, where are the other 40 top scorers?

The list I have seen is slightly different. There seem to be some missing scores from the list PWF has linked to. For example, we know the scores of some children from our school - 2 are missing on the PWF link whereas all are on the list my friend has. Same with ds tutor group. On my friend's list, it seems to show that around 192 children scored 247 and above. However, i'm not sure whether there is a cut-off at the 180th child (as Bexley use decimalised to two places scores I think). So maybe the 12 children between the 180th and 192nd positions were not deemed Top 180? Who knows!

Anyway, if you want to know where your child is in the list, let me know the score only by pm and i'll let you know the approximate position or you could make a FOI request to Bexley.

"Selection test in September 2016 for children transferring to secondary school in September 2017
The 2016 Selection Test is now complete. 5685 candidates sat the test in Bexley this year, and the selective standard has been set at 216, with 1753 pupils being deemed Selective, including the Top 180 scorers who achieved a score of 247 or above."
(LB Bexley website).

If they are giving this much information, if they meant exactly the top 180 they could surely say 'above 247.56' or whatever the exact cutoff was?

Nothing about cutting off exactly at the 180th candidate and 247.01 would fit into the '247 or above' category just as the one with 247.99 would.

Presumably your friends FOI request wasn't made through whatdotheyknow, or else it would be accessible to all, like the one that PettswoodFiona linked to?
