Viewing selective schools

Post by bexmumof2 »

Is anybody viewing them before the results?

I feel reluctant showing my son a school that could possibly not be an option, but then after the results the timings and dates of the visits are so restricted it would be hard to fit things in.

Wondered what everyone else is doing about this?

We are visiting selective schools this week and next week.
It'll be a shame if your child passes and you've not visited the schools.

Sorry Toy I don't think I made myself understood.

Of course if he passes we will visit the schools, i'm just reluctant to show them to him before we get results. There are visits for every Gram. school in Bexley after we get results, although they are tightly knitted together and some are on the same day, we will still be able to see the 3 Bexley options after the results have been received and also the Dartford options too. It was just that I see Bexley Gram. have an open day this week.

We were having the same dilemma, whether to visit the GS before the results.
But will go to the bexley GS this week. My view is if he does'nt get selected, this visit may give him some experience as there is no point in visiting GS afterwards. :?

I wonder why BG have decided to have an open morning this week? I thought one of the main benefits of the new system was that children wouldn't be taken to see schools they subsequently found they couldn't go to. All of the other GSs in Bexley have timed all their open sessions for when the results come out. If you can't go to the morning or evening session at BG on 21 Oct then you've got no choice but to go this week I guess - without knowing the results :(

Darn, I now have a bigger dilema.... I have a job interview on 21st.... yes I know as if there isn't enough pressure around that time why not add to it.... so I've decided to visit BG on 7th on my own, then get the grandparents to do the next daytime visit with DS if he is selective. Thank god I don't have a busy or hectic social life because trying to fit all these visits in is playing havoc with my very empty diary

My dd1 - yr 9 bgs - is going to be a guide and she can't wait to show off her school.

We won't be going until we have a positive result.
