Commuting to Chis and Sid Grammar from Beckenham

Post by crashtestdummy »

I have a friend whose daughter is considering Chis and Sid Grammar for sixth form but she is wondering whether the journey will be too difficult from Beckenham as there seem to be no direct trains. Does anyone have any ideas of what the easiest commute would be on public transport? Many thanks.

Bus from Beckenham to Bromley North then the 269 all the way to Sidcup. Quite a slog though!

There's a really good website that somebody posted around the time we were filling out CAFs that showed various transport options for getting from A to B but I can't remember it's name. Something like journeyplanner. Worth a google!

I think its still worth checking the catchment distance. Unless she is Top 180, the catchment was 6.something miles last year.

Maybe worth ringing the school and asking if they have any Beckenham children.

I don't think distance should be an issue for the sixth form Fingerscrossedmum.

For 6th form, the journey should be pretty straightforward, 269 from Bromley North and usually loads of kids from Bromley on the way to and from school. Chis and Sid take quite a few from Bromley but for 6th form , it's more about their gcse grades as opposed to catchment area .

Thanks for all the advice. She's got a conditional offer for Chis and Sid sixth form so hopefully it will work out with the grades.
