Hi

Any Newstead mums lurking, hopefully you can help!

Do the KS2 SATS have any bearing on deciding sets for Y7 at Newstead? My DD was sent home after the two maths tests today, and slept for four hours straight. She had a flare up of a medical condition she has and knows she didn't do well today.

I spoke to the school before she went in, and along with my DD's insistence that she wanted to go in, decided to let her have a go.

I'm pretty sure they'll send a teacher's assessment along with her actual results to Newstead though.

I guess I'm asking:
A) do they set in Y7 at Newstead
B) how donthey decide
C) do they sit CAT tests in the first week?

Don't worry about the SATs. I really don't think secondary schools take much notice that's why they do the CAT tests. I think they are a few weeks into the term at Newstead.

Newstead set Maths only and that's in year 8 .
