Just got result - 220. Has anyone tried to discuss chances of getting in with the school? The letter discourages any phone calls but at this stage, we are not sure if we should put Newstead as our first choice now. Does anyone know what happens if we put Newstead as first choice, then we dont get a place, do we then get our second choice or do we risk not getting our second choice given that it has been placed as second choice only and not first?

Hi

If the first choice school can not offer, the second becomes the first choice and so on.

You just have to ensure you list the schools in your order of preference.

My DD got in on the second round of allocations last year on a score of 221.
Last year, a few days after allocation the school sent a letter detailing cut-off for that year and exactly where your DD sits in the waiting list. Initial cut off was 222, my DD was third on the waiting list, got a place about three weeks after allocation day.
