Dear Parents

I have a query at the last but not this least moment.

As an example once the distace criteria is considered if there are 300 pupils suitable (who are with in the given radius) but 192 vacancies available for a particular school (i.e. Bexley Grammer) then what is the next criteria these schools use to filter 192 out of 300.

We are most likely get Beths for my son because last year's distance was about 8 miles and we are around 5.2 miles away. But for Bexley Grammer we are we are about 3.5 miles away and not in catchment. We prefer Bexley since it is a language specialist school. But worried to put Bexley Grammer as 1st Choice because we may loose both chances. Pls advise me

Hi nikki,

You won't lose both chances. If Bexley is your 1st choice then put that 1st and Beth's 2nd. If Bexley are unable to offer you a place then Beth's becomes your 1st choice so you won't lose out.

Hi Nikki,

No problem. Also if you miss out on your 1st choice in the 1st round of allocations, it is still possible to be offered a place at that school later, if enough children do not take up their offers. Good luck ! We live less than a mile from Bexley Grammar but my DD does not want to put it as her 1st choice but has chosen Chis & Sids which is our furthest Grammar School ! Nothing is ever straight forward....
