waiting lists

Post by lucy009 »

Hello,

We received our offer and it is none of our choices. I was wondering if someone could give some advice on what to do next in order to put ds name on waiting lists for Beths and Chis&Sid.
thanks.

The eadmissions portal has a section on waiting lists, and I think the individual schools' websites do too. I read on my borough's own website that we would also be getting letters in the post containing info on going on waiting lists (please correct me if I'm wrong if anyone knows different!)

Hi

Last year, I think we were instructed by Bromley to contact Bexley admissions and ask for our ds to be put on the waiting list for Chis and Sid. I did this by email and they responded, confirming receipt on my email (They were very efficient and quick to respond). I also asked them (Bexley) at the same time, how far first offers had come - this gave me some idea about how near we were. Happily, we were offered a place at Chis and Sid in the next round of offers.

Check your admissions letter for details concerning putting your child on a waiting list. This may vary depending whether the school is in your borough or not.

Thank you for your answer. I did as instructed and manage to place ds on waiting lists, asked for the distances as well... fingers cross, we might have a good chance.

Hi Bromleymum1,

How do we know the date when they start offering places? Or the second round? Or when do we know what position our children are on the waiting list?
Did you ask the schools or Bexley Admissions?

Many thanks!

Hi salsa,

I kept in contact with Bexley admissions team. They told me how far out first offers had come, and confirmed our distance from the school. They didn't tell us what position we were on the waiting list, but told us based on previous years' data, we were likely to be offered a place.

Our letter offering a place was dated 10 April - this came from Bromley admissions, but obviously Bexley told them to send us an offer letter. Included in the letter is a reply slip and addressed envelope, you have return it within one week of the date of the letter.

There is usually another round of offers a few weeks later. Offers can even continue through the summer hols or even into the start of the new school year, as a few children may just not "turn up".

Hope this helps.

Hi Lucky 009. Spoke to Bexley council yesterday and the waiting list is now firmed up. You should have a clearer picture now if you call them. Wishing your dd good success.

Hi. I also called them at the beginning of the week and they would not give me any information. They said the schools would manage their own waiting lists from this year. Did they give you any information? Maybe I talked to the wrong person?

I received my dd position for ChisSids yesterday from the Council . They told me to call Beths direct which I did and they said to call after Easter to confirm position.I definitely will!
Perhaps my contact at the Council felt sorry for me pestering all the time.Who knows! Wish you well.
