The 269 bus goes all the way . DS has a few friends from Bromley and all travel by bus . BGS is in welling so it will have to be a 269 to BexleyHeath and then the 89 or 486 to welling . Rush hour traffic that would be a lonngggggg journey.

Thank you bongirl/lefol.

Bondgirl, if we pass 180 we still may go for Bexley Grammar as it is outstanding. Will see though, if travelling is too long and DS does not have time for afterschool activities I guess we will change our mind. Let's get a space first

Thanks once again, your comments are very helpful.

I know this is an old post, but I'm replying in case it's useful to others.
I've only ever heard good things about Buller's Wood. One of my children is in the sixth form at St Olave's, and some ex-BW girls there have said they think BW was better, in terms of teaching and pastoral care. It does sound like the Holy Grail - a great non-selective school on your doorstep.

C&S is a good school too, but any difference in results is likely to be down to selection. Have you looked at the Value Added scores?
We also have friends at Bexley Grammar and have been to its open events for several children. So far all my children who've been offered the option, have not wanted to go there. Many classrooms looked overcrowded, the Head's speech is generally just "We're great", and their sports and DT facilities don't seem very impressive. The real off-putting thing for us is the emphasis on doing International Baccalaureate in sixth form, which is fine if you don't want to specialise, but limiting if you do. Some love it, some hate it. Bexley used to offer a choice of IB or A-levels, but now just do IB.

All these are really good schools, and we know children at each of them - all very happy there. If your daughter doesn't have a strong preference then I'd go for the shortest journey and give yourselves more family time.

That's quite a timely post cornucopia! We are going to St Olaves' 6th form open evening next week for DD who is now in year 11 at Bullers Wood. She is interested in languages so I'm sure she'd be best staying where she is (BW got 3 girls into Oxford to study Spanish last year) but I think it's good to look at other options to be sure.

The IB may be of interest also so we're looking at Dartford GS too (DS is in year 9 there). I'd be very happy though if she decided to stay where she is.

Did we ever find out what the original poster decided?
