Likely means "provided you put Olave's as #1 in CAF", you can walk onto the red carpet of Olave's.

Possibly - pray that some top children go to private or other schools

I think top 124 are given "likely" + another 24 - 48 (20% - 40%) as buffer.

We got 'possible' too. Thanks for clarifying what this means... basically it means holding your nerve and more waiting.... sigh

Given that both schools take high-scoring children in and turn good public exam results out (the latter not much of a surprise given the former), how did you and your DS feel about the schools when you visited them? If you and he felt equally enthused by both, then which school is easier to get to? Does one focus more on a particular sport that your DS enjoys?

Does anyone know how many "Possibly" letters are sent out each year and typically how many of these boys get places?

I am guessing that March is not an end of this as many parents looking to secure good scholarships by waving their Olave's acceptances in front of the Heads at Eltham College, etc. etc. will not worry about some random date dictated by the state sector.

Suspect that right up until Septmeber 2015 things will evolve. A lot of uncertaintly for us and DS!
