Bond and CGP

Post by RSA »

Hi

If we go through all the bond CEM and CGP CEM is this enough to pass the exam?

We got the CGP CEM books but did not use them in the end. Have passed them on totally blank. Think we used 2 bond VR and 2 NVR books. Only done some papers not all.

DD reads a lot which helped with vocabulary and worked on problem solving, especially speed. Passed both Bexley and Kent comfortably despite the exam boards being different. (Kent was still NFER).

Think it is wise to practice widely rather than sticking with only one or two publishers. Nobody really knows what will come up in the Bexley test. DD1 did the old NFER/Bexley test a few years ago and the contents thereof was definitely a lot more predictable than the new test which seems a lot fairer imo.

Good luck.

I think bond and cgp provides good foundation. We didn't have bond cem as these have just got out. Bond nvr is not adequate ....cgp nvr is better...but it is best to get a tutor who has years of experience to explain this. School teachers haven't got clue..as this is not taught in national curriculum.
I would also repeat the need to read widely. We were lucky our school has reading club where you have to read a book a week and discuss.
Also you can't beat regular mock tests....it builds so much confidence in a child after doing a couple of these.
It also irons out the mistakes. Try to go for cheaper ones before going for the more expensive ones.
