What to expect on Options Evening @ School
Hi everyone,
DD is in year 9 in a GS and due to make her GCSE options choice. This is my first experience and am not sure what format these evenings take and what to expect.
DD has an idea on what subjects she would like to take, like every parent, you want to be sure they are selecting what they are happy and comfortable with. As I understand it, once approved, subject cannot be changed.
My concerns are:
1 -- Will we be given a guide on the benefit of each option and how it might benefit them on their onward journey to A levels?
2.-- Are choice made on the day?
3. -- what are the chances of getting the options they have selected?
Pls advice.
Thanks

Re: What to expect on Options Evening @ School
I've been through this twice now at 2 different schools and at both the format has been:
Presentation on how the system at that particular school works, with any compulsory subjects explained
Opportunity to meet the teachers to discuss subjects
Handouts explaining it all
3 weeks or so to submit (usually with one or two reserve choices, although usually people get the options they want)
Subjects notified during summer trm, although I think if there was a problem it would be discussed sooner.
