Has anyone got the names of companies they have used/would recommend? I have a list of organisations that advertise in The Times but no way of judging which are effective! DS needs help with an AS History module. Can travel to Oxford, Birmingham or London.
Thanks.

The Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe (halfway between Oxford and London) have just started advertising their Easter revision courses. The school itself is very high achieving so I would expect the revision courses to be of a high standard, but I have no experience of them.

Check the syllabus VERY carefully - there's a lot of differences in History.

MPW were excellent for my friend's DS last year and his AS history. They had specific module/ exam board sessions. We are using them for geography and their admin has been excellent. Can't personally comment on the course as he hasn't done it yet.
Wellington run courses too which are also residential. We discounted them as they weren't course specific.

Check the syllabus/exam board carefully. You may find that this excludes many 'options' - I did. You may also have a choice between more or less intensive teaching (hours per day and number of days over which the course is spread - there a pros and cons, parental and student view on this may not coincide). In the event I think that even being prepared to travel to various venues I was faced with virtually no choice. However, the end result (Justin Craig for AS French) was very satisfactory.

It's a very long time since I posted here but I remembered that this forum has a sixth form section and now I find there's even a thread for Easter revision. Thought I would mention that the Royal Grammar School in Wycombe is holding its AS revision courses starting Tuesday after Easter Monday. I know a few who have been on these and have really good reports. But the school itself doesn't seem very good at publicising the courses.

The groups are very small and our daughter is in the fact the ONLY one enrolled on one of the AS language revision courses, so no problem with spaces there! Anyone keen to keep her company? (she is panicking a bit about 4 days of one-to-one!). Details and an email contact are on the website.

Google "Easter Revision Royal Grammar School".
