What can we do about this ?
A2 module - we asked for a photocopy of a script for a recent exam. It seems that our daughter got one mark less than someone else, yet was awarded a C grade, while the other person got an A.
What, if anything, can we do about this as it seems ridiculous

First question ... which is the correct one ? the C or the A? - they can't be adjacent marks and 2 grades apart! How many marks / UMS did they get?

Re: What can we do about this ?
Lol - just found an AQA raw mark converter on the internet, and both should have been Bs.
Not many UMS marks to be fair, 5 extra, but it makes the C a B and hopefully takes a little pressure off in the summer. We've already paid to do the resit, now I'm not sure whether it's worth it .
I'm assuming the school will notify the exam board, at least I hope so
Note to everyone out there - there are so many ways for these exams to be marked wrongly, never just assume a disappointing mark is right

Mind you, I've now trawled the web and can't find much about UMS scores being incorrectly calculated, so maybe we have our numbers wrong.

sounds really odd somewhere along the line!!! Can you speak to the exam officer at the school and ask what to do? tricky not to have the A reduced so will have to keep quiet about that one but your DD should be able to know if her mark was a C or a B

Thing is- we (including the staff) were shocked by the grade when it was reported....so it 's not a surprise to anyone that something is wrong We'll have to see what we can do....if anythinghermanmunster wrote:but your DD should be able to know if her mark was a C or a B

Re: What can we do about this ?
I can only really comment on my daughter though - we have her raw mark and her UMS mark, and according to the calculator on the AQA website for the exam and the sitting, the UMS marks on the statement from AQA are wrong.
We don't need to mention the other student, she was just the starting point into investigating that something had gone wrong. It looks as if the same thing has happened to her except her UMS marks are higher than they should be.
Seems as if AQA have had a field day
