She is predicted all a* and had an average of 97% in AS levels....
We don't expect to hear from cambridge yet as her essays are going off this week....but she awaiting Bristol, LSE and Birmingham.

Calm me now.......please.....I'm off to glug copious wine and present calm face to children.......although rather red in the cheeks......

Some universities consider all applications together so they tend to wait until later in the term.

Different departments in the same university will have different policies so it is far too early to worry.

Some of the universities (St Andrews / Edinburgh / Durham) offered in Feb - others were even later....

... remember the actual closing date for UCAS is mid January!

Birmingham got back late-ish to one of mine (with an offer) a couple of years ago. Don't panic!

Many of the universities will only have a few applications NOT sent before 15th October (Oxbridge / Medical).

'Normal' universities also consider (equally) those not applying to Oxbridge / Medical and they will now start getting those applications coming through. It also depends on the course too. They have their statistics and know how many applications they'll likely get - and when. Some Unis / departments will wait until the deadline in Jan (or later) before sending any offers! Just because you apply early (Oxbridge) doesn't mean you will hear early - before applicants not applying to Oxbridge - although I'm sure your DD, with her excellent AS grades, and predictions, won't be short of offers. :D

Be patient. - My Y13 is still debating whether to even apply - let alone get an application in!

I think offers are slow this early - everybody knows when you apply this early you are also applying to Oxbridge. Don't panic for some time yet. Good luck :D

This time last year my daughter was attending her open day/interview at Manchester, and was given an offer verbally on the day.
There was still an anxious wait for the Oxford interview times (very late notice, although we knew the approximate dates) and then another wait for the rejection (a relief for her, as she'd already decided she preferred Manchester!)

Offers from her three other choices filtered in very slowly, well into the early spring.

Some universities (as has been said) like to offer to likely candidates as soon as the application arrives, some wait until after the Jan deadline and consider all applicants together.

But the whole process is fraught with opportunities for irrational fears and panic, so try to float above it with some calming mantra, a glass of red wine, and definitely not thinking of the size of the tuition fee loan hanging over her for the next 30 years (and what the Government will do when it finally realises they've got another set of sums wrong and most of the money will never be paid back...)

All the best - and good luck to your daughter! One tip mine used to good effect in the interview at Manchester was to ask the inteviewer about their own specialist area of research if there's a chance to ask questions - academics LOVE that!

There you go Neveragain*, The voices of experience have spoken! :D
You (should be your your DD) has maybe a long wait (It wouldn't surprise me if she has a few (if not all) offers/replies by New Year or early Jan. ). But don't (you) wait with baited breath for them... As stressful and anxious as you are, it's your DD's business. For her sake, let it be, and let her get on with enjoying sixth form - working for those grades, for their own sake (not the end result). Life has to go on this academic year. Do yourself, and your DD, a favour. Let it go, get on with normality. Chill about it. What will be, will be! :D

Fingers crossed for you though.

Good point Belinda. Offers are meaningless without the grades; your support should be to encourage and help her keep positive!

My experience from this year is quite a few students got places even when they missed their offer by a grade.

You have been given lots of good advice. Try not to worry. Many of my son's friends didn't get their offers until February. With such marvellous grade predictions, I am sure the offers will come. Good luck.
