I agree - I've been helping a friend's son as his school gave no help whatsoever - if he gets in no doubt they will 'claim' the glory though.

Are these figures accurate?

2013 they had 20 offers from 41 applicants (49%)
2014 it was 17 out of 44 (38%)
2015 it was 10 out of 31 (32%).

10 out of 41 isn't 49%

That's true! Must have been an incorrect cut'n'paste!
Hang on a mo...
Yeah, it was supposed to be 20 - I'll correct that.

They must be, or someone would have been on here to correct them

Either there's no interest, or this subject is considered unsuitable for public discussion.

moved, there is no such thing as a weaker cohort, especially at DAO. Just those who worked hard enough. Or didn't. Don'tchaknow that DAO never uses the word bright? They can't suddenly seek refuge in its alter ego, weak. Honestly.

These comments aren't about the students btw, just gently poking fun at the "received wisdom". To those who didn't get what they hoped for on the first go, life is a long game. Diversions can get you to the same destination and may even show you something nicer and more interesting along the way. Good luck.

Until recently Cambridge has been concentrating on reducing its intake from private schools and increasing its intake from state schools. Undoubtedly DAO will have been a beneficiary of that policy. Recently Cambridge changed its emphasis, and the university's OFFA agreement is now skewed more towards increasing its intake from "disadvantaged" postcodes. Perhaps DAO's Cambridge success is now suffering as a result?

That should have very negligible effect on DAO.
