My son has finally left home to go to Uni - and his room is still a mess
I thought when he went, we'd be able to see the carpet again, how wrong can you be :?
Anyway the house is very very quiet without him, even though we have three more

Are other people missing their kids yet or do I need to just pull myself together?

I didn't miss my eldest so much as he had taken a gap year during which he worked, made new friends, stayed away quite regularly, then travelled the world for a month, so he had often been away anyway. When he returns it's often with a group of friends and the consumption of food (and beer!) increases dramatically

When DS2 left last year suddenly the house seemed very quiet - no more continuous piano/bassoon playing or music on the radio, my car was always available, no more squabbles about who chooses what to watch on TV, no more interesting cooking experiments involving hand-ground spices and the use of every pan in the house... I missed him dreadfully and was glad to be invited to pay the odd day trip visit to enjoy a concert, buy him a meal etc

Have a few more years until DD leaves - by which time no doubt the others will be back looking for work, saving up for a flat while enjoying home comforts

Think it's time I had a gap year!
