My daughter wants to study Maths at Uni.

Anyone know the best instituitions to study at.

I guess it would be best to have three top ones,a middle ranking and a lower.

Thanks

Clare

A relly of a friend who got stunning (seriously) GCSEs and v high predictions for As - just failed to get into Cambridge and opted for Lancaster - My friend and I were slightly bemused by this and assumed that it was related to the year in the USA during the course...

until we saw this:

That amused me as I strayed away from 11+ to see what I'd be worrying about in 7 years time. But seriously it is based on student satisfaction, not how the outside (or rather "inside") world views the maths courses.

My ranking (as a former undergrad maths and now working in academia) would be:

1. Cambridge
2. Warwick
3. Oxford
4. Imperial

After those "top" I'd think of the other main institutions - Bath, Bristol, Manchester, Sheffield, Sussex, Lancaster (yes it does have a particularly well-renowned statistics group at least), Kent etc. etc. (that list is not exhaustive or ordered). You can probably gauge relative levels from the admissions offers.

Thank you both.

She has shortlisted nine and wants to go to the open days of all of them!
