Gynaecology, GI medicine or onc/haem all very lucrative privately. My dad was a renal physician, not a huge wodge to be made privately in that.

Perks for us though, Dad went in every Christmas morning, 3 daughters in tow, to carve the (real and roasted) turkey on the ward for Christmas dinner, while we sat in the nurses office, helping ourselves to goodies and the odd illicit sip of sherry....ah, those were the days, not like that these days.................poor nurses worked off their feet.

My dad writes (in beautiful script it has to be said) in brown ink pen - always thought that as he was a doctor it was dried blood, sourced from the mortuary maybe??? Mwah mwah mwah!
