It would be nice to hear of the DC successes, it is so quiet here. :(

Results from the CSSE exams are posted and the messages do help others.

Anyway, congratulations to all those who passed into ICHS and WCHS :)

Just got a letter from Redbridge about DDs results (no word from my local authority - Waltham Forest yet) and the letter did not actually offer a place (WCHS was the first choice - perhaps this comes from the local authority).

Non-Verbal raw score - 65/75
Non-Verbal standardised score - 120
Verbal raw score - 85/90
Verbal standardised score - 127
Total - 247
Ranking - 36

There were 727 girls who sat the test. The pass range was 226-274. Those between 138 and 226 are eligible for the waiting list.

Hope this helps those preparing for the Redbridge test this December.

Can anyone shed any light on how the waiting list works or what has happened in previous years. My daughter has a score of 223 , so not sure if that will be enough to get her into WCHS, but would welcome any views from more seasoned parents who have been through this process before.

Thanks

It looks like your dd did get a place!

Here are my dd's scores:

Non verbal raw score 69 out of 75
Standardised: 129
Verbal rawscore 72 out of 90
Standardised 108

Total: 237

73 out of 727 girls

The letter stated that the cutoff point was 226 so your DD will probably get in as 20-30 people offered places each year will decline and rankings up to about 140-150 should get in. The key is not to turn down any other offer you get (as long as its good enough as a backup) but to accept and tell them you are on a waiting list for WCHS. Things should get resolved in the next few weeks and that way any places you are offered do not go to someone else while the waiting list is processed.

Thanks, in the letter it says that she was placed at number 165, however, this is not the waiting list position. I can only assume that 45 children (in which case I fear there is little hope) scored more than her, but unsure if this is the right way of looking at things.

I'm surprised that 3 standardised points make such a huge difference and can only assume there was a cluster of marks around the cutoff point with tied results being decided by distance in the case of WCHS. It's tricky to call but the letter states the waiting list starts at a score of 138 so there's hope for a place in the 40s on the waiting list. At Latymer the head teacher said number 20 would probably get in but number 50 probably would not. No mention of waiting lists was given during the WCHS open evening.
