Re: CEM results post here 2017
In the 2016 entry 109 was ranked 180. Numbers taking the test have gone up 18 percent so a rank of roughly 212 is within the range of possible outcomes. Above estimates could also well prove to be right though assumes 104 is 400 and is around 58 ranks out at 109 for 2016 entry.
Only point we know for 2017 entry is 104.0 is 386. I wish we had more data but saying none until March. Freedom of info request might work but at end of the day we will only know for definite when results come out and offers then continue as places declined. I just hope we are told what place we are on the waiting list in March.
At 104 there are 386 girls so if you took their advice 206 would have no state school. Great advice Redbridge but hopefully no one would actually just list one school.

Re: CEM results post here 2017
Does anyone disagree that it is pointless and stupid for Redbridge not to have given rankings this year?
A rank is worlds apart from a standardised score. Even though on paper my son 'passed', it actually means nothing unless it was a standardised score of over 120.
For those kids that were hoping for a place at ICHS/WCHS but not recieved huge scores, it means now they have to lose even more of their childhood preparing for further entry tests (e.g Forest, Bankcroft, etc, etc).
Hope someone from Redbridge admissions is following this thread and realising how much confusion this is causing - just give us the ranks which you have already!!

They recommend that for their benefit not oursNorank16 wrote:Thank you. But why would they ask you to put Woodford down as first choice then? And only put an alternative of below the score of 104?
It makes it easier for them to allocate their places. The government changed the exam rules so parents would know if their DC had passed before choosing schools. Hiding the ranking is a step backwards for which I can see no logical benefit to a LA.

Re: CEM results post here 2017
Please can someone shed some light on the secondary school application process. The admissions criteria for Seven Kings suggest they only offer places in catchment. We are in catchment for SKHS and only a 5 minute walk from the school so we have a very high chance of securing this if we put this as our 1st choice. However, if we choose to put a grammar school 1st and Seven Kings as our 2nd choice, are we risking losing Seven Kings if the grammar school does not accept us? We've heard some conflicting information that suggest those who chose SKHS as their 1st choice will exceed those choosing SKHS as their 2nd choice and hence will not be offered this even though we are in catchment. I believe they are basing this on the fact that there were close to 2000 applications last year and even if a quarter of these were in catchment applicants they will be prioritised. Conversely, we have also heard that if you do not qualify for the grammar school, your 2nd choice automatically becomes your 1st choice.
A little confused how the whole process is managed.

Thanks. How sure are you on the 809 as someone previous stated 850. 809 to 1004 rise, wow. That would affect the increase in numbers percentage.

Hi, do you remember what was the 'pass score' advised by Redbridge for the last year? Did they provide one like this year (this year they strongly advised to apply to those whose score was above 104)? Was there any score indication last year or just ranking information?floaty wrote:just to give some idea although not sure how much it helps!

Redbridge told me this was the first year of a pass score and implied you can only go on a waiting list for the school over 104.
Re: CEM results post here 2017
E-mailed admissions to obtain numbers sitting for 2016 and 2017 entry and if they know any reason for a strong rise in applications.
Anyone know if that's a local or national trend or why. Could be private people worried about redundancy with Brexit referendum? Can't think of anything else other than population rise but that can't be 24 percent surely.

I would think population rise will be a huge factor if you see how many flats have been built and occupied recently. Also as you say, a lot of parents aiming at private schools would probably have their kids take the 11plus as a hedge.Bananas wrote:E-mailed admissions to obtain numbers sitting for 2016 and 2017 entry and if they know any reason for a strong rise in applications.
