Hello

My son will be sitting for his 11+ exam for admission to Ilford County in Redbridge late this year.

I have purchased the NFER range for both VR+NVR , does anyone have any further recomendations as to what extra study material i can purchase that would be relevant to the 11+ exam in Redbridge

Many thanks in advance

Hi,
My son passed the Redbridge test this year. We used a veriety of papers in addition to Nfer but only as an exercise of mind and to enhance vocabulary. Bond papers aparently are not suitable for our area but he did them nevertheless as there is not much choice. You can try some of the papers available on this site but I cannot recomend any particular ones ( I only discovered this site after the exam). I still have a few books if you are interested. If you have questions about the exam feel free to PM me. Also I can recommend a good tutor and one that definitely should be avoided  . I hope this helps a little. Loredana

Does anyone know about the total marks and pass marks?

Hi Loredana. Would you mind me asking what mark your son got? What was the pass mark and what is the maximum? It all seems to be a great mystery. I know a pupil in my school is on the waiting list with a mark in the 190s. But what does that mean? 190 out of what? Thanks

God knows why they keep it such a mistery... The letter from LEA states that 840 boys took the test, The highest mark was 282, the lowest successful mark 227. Waiting list between 227 and 138. These are standardised scores to account for age at the time of testing. My son got 235 (overall position 88, more than one boy can share this position). Raw scores NVR 64 out of 75 (standardised to 115) and VR 83 out of 90 (st. 120). He is feb born. I hope this makes sense.

Hi Loredana,

In your post you mentioned about good tutors and the ones to avoid as well. I would really appreciate if you could share that with us. My son will start preparing for the 11+ soon.

Thanks

Hi,

My daughter is preparing for Woodford county for this year. I have got nfer Nelson packs (4) for VR and NVR. We also bought Tutors inetractive (from this site) for verbal reasoning and I find it quite useful. I got epapers for NVR from MW Educational. I do not find them really relevant. What is the best way for making her prepare for NVR?

Any help would be highly appreciated
