Redbridge Question Types

I notice that Nfer Nelson and Bond have 5 main question types...codes, series, etc etc
I was reading through this site (obsessively!) and noticed (I think in Kent) a mum saying that her son was disappointed when taking his NVR test that Codes had been taken out. My question is - if they take out codes ( could they? Would they?) what would they replace them with?
I realise there are no definitive answers but your experiences/help would be appreciated.
PS Redbridge test is different to Essex although we are in Essex....can we have an esssex section???????? Please?
