Hello Emmy

I see that you've prepared some Maths papers and that are available to download on this site. Can you tell me whether they are comparable to Nfer Nelson. I live in Kent and this is the Board they use.

Many thanks!

Hi

Yes they are based on past papers and NFER inparticular as I live in Kent too. The standard is a little more challenging than NFER (which is easier than Bond) so that it is suitable for all LEAs. Don't expect 80% + be happier with 70%

let me know if there is any other info that you need

Thanks

Emmy

Thanks very much Emmy - I will order some.

Could I ask you please which Bond series you think is equivalent to the real 11+ Nfer Nelson paper. My tutor thinks Bond 9-10, but it seems a lot easier than the Nfer practice papers you can buy.

Emmy's papers are available as E-papers in this website. The following link takes you to the Maths E-papers section.

Hi

I would agree that these books contain too many of the easier topics. NFER seem easier because they start easy, but look at questions 40-50 on the NFER papers and they are of the same standard as BOND maths 10-11+ Some people believe that it is better for a child to understand the easier topics and score the majority of the marks on these- I think you need to remember that really your child can only lose 10 marks on the paper (giving a score of 80%) Anymore and you are tempting fate! The pass mark last year was 77% and I believe that more emphasis needs to be placed on the difficult questions- algebra, angle theorems, percentages etc that can be found more frequently in BOND and in my own papers

Hope this helps

Emmy
