I have a friend whose daughter will sit the 12 plus in April in Bucks. Is the exam similar to the 11 plus? She has been recommended by her headteacher so is the exam just a formality? If anyone has any advice I would be very grateful.

If you look under the Buckinghamshire postings further down the page and about 7 threads down is one called 12+ which may answer your queries. If not I would post any questions on that site as it is more specific.

Regards

Many thanks Ambridge. I found the sections you referred to and they were a great help.

Hi guest1000

I'm also on the Wirral and might well be going down the 12+ route.
Did you do much better on the 12+ than the 11+?
Did you appeal against the 11+?
Do many sit the 12+?
How did you fit in once you joined the school?
Sorry to be so intrusive but Wirral seems to have less information than other parts of the country.

Any tips you have please share.

Thank you..

AM

Hi Appeal Mum.

Wirral LEA do not have or undertake 12+ exams.

Its 11+ only.

Hi Guest,

Where did you get that information from? Guest 1000 above stated she took the exam and I'm led to believe from other sources children can come into grammar school at different years.

Hi AM and Footymad,

Guest is incorrect you can take 12 plus in Wirral.. Although Wirral LEA don't seem to advertise it , and not many probably bother due to kids happy in new schools.

You take the 12 plus exam around Easter 08 at the chosen Grammar School. I have spoke to them earlier this year about this.

Which was at the back of my mind..Until she passed...

Good luck..

NBS

Thank you so much NBS, My heart sunk I thought it was going to be all or nothing at the appeal.
I thought it was possible but then I haven't looked into it (Yet). I might have guessed you would have known  with all the worrying you were doing. Good to see your still around!
