Guesswork and Time Pressures in CEM Exam

I am just wondering and posing this question to any academics / educators out there what is the logic of an exam with the extreme time pressure of the CEM tests?

They don't have a clue. For Bucks the claim is that: "The tests are not directly linked to National Curriculum subjects, but have been specially designed to work out a child’s potential and whether he or she can think a problem through". If you can square that with what actually happens, they have vacancies in Durham that might be of interest! About time these ridiculous tests, and the equally ridiculous quacks who peddle them, were given the bum's rush...

The Bexley CEM was very tight on timings. My son said that some questions had up to 10 options to choose from. That makes it even harder to guess! Lots of children were upset as parents were told not to tutor as there was no need. So, guess he did, like mad!

Probably similar to bucks 2013 cloze word bank, where you had to find the letter below the word they wanted from the selection at the top if the page, that letter went in a numbered gap in the answer spaces of the corresponding answer sheet number to the gap? It did seem like a faf, the cloze was relatively simple, it was negotiating the format that was the tricky bit!

NVR this year some ridiculous timings wont post yet but for God's sake ! ludicrous like some of the words, why dont they tighten up admissions and stop 4000 kids taken exam from ooc for less than 500 places for kids who live in Berks grrrrrr
