A parent I know of with a ds who just finished Y9 said that out of the 180 boys in the year only the top two sets of a total of 60 boys do Triple Science. So 2/3 of the 100% selective students do not do Triple Science and only 1/3 do. DG

Last GCSE results and school policy do not support the view that only 1/3 are allowed to take triple science.

Is that a policy in most schools or is one the QE specials!! I can understand School advicing struggling kids to drop a subject is understandable but not to let them do a subject because of sets is just unfair. There are 7 or 8 sets in science from year 10. Boys in the lower six sets cannot take triple science is just brutal.
Having one child makes you a parent; having two you are a referee.

Data from recent years indicates that around 100 boys take triple science GCSEs at QE.

.............. Edited by moderator - sorry, we realise you were just responding to the previous post, but we must please all stay strictly on topic. We know how easily these QE threads get derailed! :?

It will be interesting to compare with other schools.

Perhaps it would - but please let's limit this thread to "Triple or Double Science at QE".

Any volunteers?

If it is ok with mods, how about you starting the thread and in general section, so forum members from other regions could tell us all about their schools' practices.
