Advice on buying backpack for school
Hi,
Please recommend which backpack to buy for secondary school , considering the load the children needs to carry on their shoulders and back.
Thanks in advance

If you enter the search term 'jeep' on this site, you will find previous threads on the subject. And yes, that was a hint as to at least one recommendation .whoisfk wrote:Hi,

Make sure you get one that can take A4 books (Animal used to do one) otherwise files and exercise books can get very tatty , very quickly.

Definitely jeep.
DD had one at primary that is still in use but not for school as its too small. Got her another bigger jeep one. DH has one too lasted for years.

Train them not to bring home stuff they do not need that day; it makes a massive (literally) difference.
Lockers are provided (sometimes these need to be hired) by many schools.

After much trial and error, the most back-friendly bags we have found are North Face Recon. Expensive, but worth it. No back or shoulder pain, even on days when a clarinet and hockey kit are both needed.
Re: Advice on buying backpack for school
There's a thread from last year called Going to Big School that has stuff on backpacks/rucksacks as well as other recommendations.
I'd still (as I did on that thread) recommend Eastpak bags, either messenger style or backpacks. Both mine have one and they've lasted nearly two years and still look good. Unlike every other bag they've had... They are much cheaper online than in the shops, depending on colour/pattern.

Personally I'll be looking for one that vibrates every minute.
