school places

Post by wizard »

Hi sycamore,

Just wondered how you got on with school places. My son was chuffed to be offered a place at Bishops. Hope you got the one you wanted.

Hi wizard,

Really pleased to hear your son was successful.

My daughter was convinced she had scraped a pass at best but got a fantastic score and has a place at SWGS!

Not such good news for some of her friends.

Fantastic news kjpt99!

I was starting to wonder if you were going to post your results, especially after your queries in Appeals.

Really glad it was good news for you after all, I expect your daughter is as excited as mine, she's already looking at the SWGS girls she sees around town and there have been many discussions about the length of the skirts etc.

Apparently it's been an odd year for results, I've heard that one of the private schools only got 2 through, but then again more state school parents are tutoring..... :?

Yes I get the same impression too.
Most of the children I knew and teach only managed to scrape in or were as much as 30-40 points under.
My daughter is so pleased even though she was the only one in her school to get in - didn't like the alternatives at all.
She asked me if I thought the uniform would suit her - bless her!
The skirts used to be quite itchy but they've changed the material now and are consequently more comfortable. The official line is at knee length but I know the girls roll them up at the waist! I believe they come in two different lengths.

I'm still feeling the relief of the news!

Best wishes for September!

Does that mean you're a teacher/tutor?

I shall be keeping my eyes peeled at the new parents evening!
(I will of course be in disguise  )

My daughter seems to be completely obsessed with the SWGS website at the moment. Roll on September!

We've priced the whole lot up too.

We've been told you can buy some second hand (sycamore breathes huge sigh of relief) and I'll be asking which items are strictly necessary and which become seriously uncool after the first week!
