VA?

Post by sycamore »

Could someone please explain to me how VA scores are calculated?

Are they a comparison between the average score of a year group at KS1 and KS2?

What would happen if children left/joined the class between the Key Stage tests? Would their scores be included in the calculation?

I'd be interested to know this too Sycamore, particularly as I'd like to take my DS's school to task about his apparent lack of progress.

Entered the school in year 3 having gained level 3s in all subjects at KS1 - looking possible that he could go into year 6 still as a level 3 in English

Thanks for the link Yoyo, I also found this info which shows the new CVA scores.

Unfortunately it's a little patchy in the detail, unless I'm a little patchy in the understanding?

I'm still none the wiser about whether children have to be attending the school for the whole of KS2 for their results to be included in the tables.

And how are these contextual scores different from the previous ones?

Charlotte, I would be livid if this was happening to my child. My cross letter writing hand was feeling rather twitchy as I read your post.
