help on yr 5 papers - guest 55

Post by Tracy »

I have brought home my dd's yr 5 spring maths test to go over some of the questions that she didn't get right.

On looking through this test I can't quite understand how the teacher has come to the marks that she has. I thought that these papers ( A & B ) were both out of 40 with the mental maths being out of 20. This gives a round 100. The teacher says the written papers are both out of 50. No mention of mental maths although the kids definitely took it.

Each paper has a complete set of questions with no additional questions slotted in. They look like sats papers, not a mish mash of unrecognisable papers. I realise that marks are awarded for marking and sub parts etc but I still cannot get anywhere near to 50, I can agree to 40 though.

Can anyone enlighten me? Guest 55? :D
The teacher is as unhelpful as ever.

Thanks :D :D

Hi,

Is it an optional Y5 test paper? Has it got a footer of any kind that would give you a clue as to its source?

This must be an optional yr5 test.

Front: Paper A - yr5 levels 3-4 Back:QCA/02/931 254779
Front: Paper B - yr5 levels 3-5 Back:QCA/02/932 254778

Both have a large pentagon on the front with a 5 inside it.

Does this help?

Is there a marking scheme anywhere as I can't see where 90 marks come from. Or is a mental maths test added ogto this one?

I'm just trying to show my daughter where the additional marks are ie working out.

My daughter is in year 6 and took a practice sats paper last week. Hers was definitely out of 100, 2 tests out of 40 and a mental maths out of 20. She got 98/100 :D Does anyone know what level this would give her? :D
