Hi,
It's a very nice school. Not known as an academic school - rather sporty. The Head is relatively new (couple of years) & I understand is trying to up its academic performance. The Saturday school is finishing I think from next year - that put a lot of people off I think.
Go to their open day & have a look. If your child is very academic, another school would maybe be better, but St Johns is a good all round school - better than Reeds IMO.

We're looking for a school for DS.

Disappointed that St. John's is going co-ed as this now leaves only RGS as only boys school in area.

However music & sport is good the option is there for ad hoc boarding.

Regarded well by DS's prep school & from next year entrance is by headmaster's report & interview only.
DS of 10 & DD of 7

There is Reeds & also Hampton has good bus services. I prefer Hampton over all the above myself. RGS is very nice but a bit too academic for me. Hampton felt a bit more rounded. They have loads of open days- only one Saturday though (in September). RGS have only the one open day in September - not enough time to have a really good look around. We got stuck in the science labs so saw no other part of the school
