Keeping study fun

Post by ggd »

My son is preparing to sit the Colyton entrance exams in November. He has done a number of practice papers and I am encouraging him to increase his reading. What other fun activities have you found helpful?

Boggle, Scrabble, Bigbrain, the cars game, Taboo. Story CDs on long car journeys. Concentration, Grandmother's basket, etc.
Try to throw in words that he will not know so that he is developing vocab without noticing.

Thanks for the suggestions. Scrabbles always a good game, and he does suduko as well.

Can anyone give me some idea on what sort of score kids should be getting in 11+ practice paper to stand a chance with the real entrance exams, we are new to all this?

Hello ggd! It's hard to answer the question about what score your child should be getting to qualify - as Colyton don't give out the results. However we were told at the open day by the former headmaster that if your child is predicted level 5 in their year 6 SAT's - they should definitely take the test.
