Too many GCSEs?
I'd be interested to read what other people think:
DS has been assessed as dyspraxic and dyslexic. He is on the school's SEN register. He is soon to make his GCSE choices and will probably have to sit 13. As he writes and works so slowly I'm concerned that the homework and course work demands will be too much for him.

Coursework changes in September and more will be completed under controlled conditions i.e. in school.
However I can see no use for 13 GCSEs ... 10 or 11 is quite enough. Maybe he could start and see which he copes with best -
When I was a GS SENCo it was usual for some pupils to sit fewer GCSEs - after all if they have extra time in exams it is logical to assume that any homework or assignments will take them longer too.

Feel free to PM me - I strongly doubt that it's never been done ... that may be their line at this stage.
You can look at changes on the exam board websites:
www.aqa.org.uk
www.edexcel.org.uk
www.ocr.org.uk
Maths does not change until next year but there's no coursework anymore anyway.
