Maths practice: Bond vs Schofiled & Sims workbooks

Post by Villagedad »

Hi

We want to do so light maths practice with our 7 yr old son, who has just started KS2, to ensure he stays up to speed with his maths, and wondered if anyone has any opinion with regards to which workbooks are more effective and more fun to do out of Bond and Schofiled & Sims...?

Appreciate your views

Hi, we played lots of number games to reinforce understanding of number system. A favourite was - and still is - Number Quest from DK books, its a board game, can't speak too highly of it. It is easy to start but challenging enough for adults. I believe there is a similar game on the internet somewhere called nubble (I think or something similar). We also played countdown type games.
They are fun and quite different to school work.

The Zoombinis computer games are very good for developing maths and logic skills, and more exciting than workbooks.
