Help..... my d is taking the 11+ test next week and I am extremely worried that she will even pass. Silly mistakes keep happening, things do not seem to be going in. Practice tests from tutor usually score at around 78% or just over 80%. Is this enough to get a pass into a grammar school?
Thanks jenhug however is this the same for out of area do you know? I am out of area and trying for one of governor's places in Tonbridge. I understand the score last year was extremely high for out of area of 412 over the three papers, does that means dropping hardly any marks.
A pass is 360 ( with no one paper being less than, I think 114/115) if that helps. So if approx 70% is 360, then 412 will require a higher percentage score, but I don't know what. I don't think that you can do a simple mathematical calculation to work out the exact percentage.
2childmum That is good to know. My d got 141 for all 3 CAT tests and usually gets over 80- 85% in practices so in your experience, would you say she has a fighting chance?
My son took the 11+ last year and scored 140 in each paper.
His percentage marks were:
maths - 92%
VR 85%
NVR 77%
I don't know the lowest % mark which scored full marks once it was standardised.
Hope that helps a bit!
This is very helpful. Thanks a lot. My DS is very stressed since the exam because he thought that he did very badly in NVR but your post cheered him up.
