Music (voice) question? what to do next...
My daughter has received varous prizes from her school and I hear constant praise from the school and headtecher about how good her voice is
She loves singing and I have just started getting her to do 30mins voice coaching lesson but am not really sure what else is available to keep her interest and help her work towards somethings
I have checked most music school and there is kent music school not very far from me but it seems they are all really about playing instruments.
Maybe I have been searching for the wrong stuff but what options are available for her. she will be 10 years so just something for her to work towards. She loves perfoming so if there is something like that she will work her gut off just so she is good...but if there is nothing to work towards...oh well she really doesnt care....

Why not audition her for a cathedral choir as many have girls choirs or mixed choirs and not just boys choirs. The girls choirs sing fewer services a week but the performance opportunies and tours can be second to none. She will also receive a good theoretical music education too. Southwark Cathedral has a girls choir - I'm not sure about others but you could check out Canterbury or Rochester. Even small CofE churches have choirs which perform on a Sunday and rehearse once a week. They are often part of the RSCM which works towards awards and often pay the choir small amounts aswell as giving them opportunities to sing at weddings where they get paid more. Where do you live/where would you be prepared to travel to and I can find a list of suitable choirs.
She could also audition for NYCGB which will be auditioning around November.

Years ago there was a Kent Youth choir - is that still going? Ask the music service again
Presumably she will be off to secondary school next year, so there may be the chance of school productions etc, school choir, concerts etc
How about the local church choir - would they like a soloist for a Christmas service?
Later on there may be the choral society, amateur operatics etc
Probably best not to push her too soon into the X Factor or similar! But there are graded singing exams as well as instrumental which might give her a goal.

Thanks you so much....hard to believe but I have been on the kent msuic site a couple of time and never thought of checking under choirs...I will speak to them
I guess it was because DD was in choir at school and she hated it and was always moaning but I guess these one could be a little different if they have professional running them
You are right i dont want her to push her into x factor type now but i just want her to develop her music ability all round
