Help! Are we using the right practice papers!

Post by amberalexandra »

Reading through the forum I've come across reference to people using a GL A practice paper. What is this and where do you get it from please? We have been using the NFER Nelson Verbal Reasoning Familiarisation Tests 11A, B, C & D which have 85 questions in 50 minutes. I am now panicking as I'm worried I've done the wrong thing. Can anyone advise me please?

nferNelson Becomes GL Assessment

nferNelson, the UK’s biggest independent provider of educational assessment, is announcing at BETT 2008 that it has changed its name to GL Assessment.
Hope that helps. :) They are the same thing.

Welcome,

I would just like to add something here. I might be wrong but it sounds as if you are only using those papers for practice.

To be on the safe side I would suggest you purchase a supplimentary pack by a different publisher. The ones you have only test for the 15 type questions and going on what my son said about last years test I am sure opposite words came up. It doesn't harm them to have encountered the extra types but it does help if they turn up on the day.

Thanks for the advice, I actually ordered the Susan Daughtry pack from Amazon yesterday before I saw your message so must be telepathic! Really appreciate the help.

There are also the Tutors dailies which are great. At this stage I would recommend about two packs of level 3 and one pack of level 4.

PHI Learning Labs - any good??

Post by EmeraldE »

Hi all

Has anyone tried the learning labs series?
Are the Introductory Papers 1 and 2 vaulable? (the yellow and blue books)
and are the Papers 1 and 2 (green and red books) more challenging?

I have not used them with DS1 but might give them a whirl if good for DS2

did green and red for DS2, didn't know about blue and yellow. green fairly normal, I think, red harder. Def think variety the key!
