any ideas for stretching some able year 6s?
I have been asked, in a voluntary capacity, to take a group of three year 6s (the top performers in maths) for 30 mins for week to do something stretching and fun.
Anyone have any good ideas please?
Thanks

investigations are good enrichment , you will turn up lots by google.
particularly good if they have to find a rule behind the answers and test that hypothesis. Questions like
why?
why not?
what if?
will stretch them.

A nice first activity with an able group is to ask them to find a rapid method of adding all the numbers from 1-100. Very able yr 6 may find this too easy, but it would give you a measure of where they are. You can adapt this with different groups of consecutive numbers. Does their initial method always work. How would it apply to 1-99?
