What does the NVR test show?

Post by hamster »

I am interested to see that in a private school entrance exam which my daughter is about to sit, that there is no NVR paper at all. Instead, there is VR and English as well as maths.

Just wondering what the NVR is supposed to show and what sort of children do better at it than others. Is it the true test of intelligence? (I read this somewhere).

Presumably after the 11+ there is no need to sit this kind of paper ever again?

Not at all relevant to our situation, just interested!

Supposedly it's a predictor of future academic achievement!

There is a quote which says 'In an educational context, these tests are typically used as an indication of a pupil’s ability to understand and assimilate novel information independently of language skills.'

A friend of mine with a severely dyslexic child has real problems with VR, but her DD is very bright and spots all the relationships really quickly and is great at NVR.

my daughter is a great visual learner, and she enjoyed the NVR test. She is an Aspie, so I think that it helps if you can think "outside the box" so to speak.
