homework advice

Post by traceywhyte17 »

My DS has some homework where he has to chart the life cycle of a 1p coin but he can't seem to find a website to give him the facts and figures. Does anyone know of any websites that might be helpful for this?

What subject is this for? Could it be intended as an imaginative piece on the hypothetical life of a penny (pocket money, sweet shop, down the back of the sofa, charity collection tin etc) If it's meant to be factual I guess the Royal Mint would be a good place to start

I wondered whether it was more of an imaginative piece...

What a scary bit of prep if it's supposed to be entirely factual!

http://www.royalmint.com/Corporate/fact ... ation.aspx

the royal mint has some facts and figures on the number of coins in circulation and how they are made.

HOWEVER - is this one of these rather more imaginitive "day in the life of a penny stories" ?????? - where kids have to describe it being in a purse being exchanged for sweets etc - being dropped etc!!! put in to a parking meter / taken to the bacnk / in the slot the at the loo etc???

Three minds with but a single thought! Have all obviously experienced the child who hasn't a clue what the homework is meant to be - 10 page essay, poster, bullet points etc

That could explain why he can't find the information he needs!! Have asked him again if it's factual or hypothetical and now he isn't too sure! He is going to double check tomorrow!
