reading exams 2009
Hi there!
I am new to the forum. My boy will be sitting the reading entrance. I would like to know , what the tests were like, from anyone who has taken the test this year, 2009.
* How long was each test?
* Did they give VR or NVR only or Both?
* How was the English / Maths test?
* More specifically How was the English comprehension and WAS THERE
ANY WRITING TASK?
Would appreciate to hear about anyone's experience.
thanks
regards
Gem

Hi gem,
Welcome to the forum. We can not discuss the 2009 exam format or contents yet as there may be late sitters.
I am working with DS2 towards the Reading 2010 exam.
Based on the general advice from Reading and feedback from the last few years (my DS1 sat in 2006, Bewildered’s in 2007 and 2008 ) I would suggest getting up to speed on KS2 Maths and English, looking at VR and NVR, and given that Reading do not give us a lot of information, prepare for the unexpected.
From the school website,

Good luck, the above should keep you busy till after xmas and then we can talk more about the 2009 exam.There will be three tests each of length approximately one hour.
The tests will cover:
* Reasoning [verbal and/or non-verbal(abstract)]
* English
* Mathematics
The tests will build on current good practice adopted in primary schools and will be tests for which no additional preparation is necessary.
No past papers are available and no further information with respect to the tests will be given.
