Thanks for responding Bewildered. We're in Slough so it will be one of the four here, you can apply to more than one can't you?I hadn't thought we'd have to think about it so early as I didn't know they sat the 11+ right at the beginning of yr6 until recently so in a bit of a panic and dd's school is somewhat less than helpful to say the least!I don't know whether we should do it at home or with a tutor or a bit of both.I do think she has the ability though.Really could do with some help and advice as to what I need to know and do, the whole shebang really! Thanks.

Catherine and Chad are the experts in this area, and I'm sure they'll come along with some advise.
I know they sit three tests, Maths, NVR (Non Verbal Reasoning), and VR(Verbal Reasoning). more info here http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/11-plus-berks.php
NVR and VR are not taught at school, hence the previous comment 'Revise/learn', so these are the two that need to be taught. Books are available from this site or any good book shop. The IPS VR Techniques is a good starter, if you are planning to prepare at home.
Read through the other threads referring to slough, and if you have any more questions, we'll be here. Also read through Bucks threads. An expert on VR, named Patricia, has advised exactly which books and best timetable to follow, regarding these.

Hi Guest, as Bewildered says, you have found the right place, and don't worry, it is not too late to start.
All three papers (verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and maths) are NFER multichoice, and it is important to prepare with the right papers.
-For the Verbal Reasoning, you can follow Patricia's advice. She is a tutor for Bucks, and her advice for VB applies to Slough. She posts mainly in the Bucks and Verbal reasoning sections of this forum.
- a good thread to look at:
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... php?t=1458
-For Maths and Non Verbal reasoning you can look here:
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... .php?t=525
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... .php?t=586
and also in the Maths and non-verbal resoning sections.
I am a bit short of time this evening, but please if you have any question, don't hesitate to ask.
Best of luck
Catherine
