Anagrams?

Post by littlemissfavored »

Which Verbal Reasoning type is anagrams?
I can see it in Susan Daughtrey's VR Further Practice exercises but its not in the 21 types I have seen on this site:

= Insert a letter
B = Related words
C = Word letter codes
D = Closest meaning
E = Hidden word
F = Missing word
G = Letters for numbers
J = Move a letter
L = Letter series
M = Word connections
P = Number series
Q = Compound words
R = Make a word
U = Letter connections
Z = Reading information

H = Opposite meaning
I = Complete the sum
K = Related numbers
N = Word-number codes
O = Complete the word
S = Same meaning

Is this covered in the Bexley test?

it's not one of the 21 types.

The Susan Daughtrey books cover more than the 21 types.

can;t find much looking back over posts. The tests appear to be set by NfER and they don;t usually include anagrams. However, I can;t say for definite.

I don't think anagrams appear in the Bexley test, but couldn't swear to it. The format of the Bexley tests changed two years ago when they were reduced from 4 (NVR, VR, Maths and English) to 2 (VR and Maths). Although the tests are still set by Nfer my understanding is that the VR may have changed to reflect the loss of the English paper.

The Council's website gives sample VR and Maths papers. But I know that the sample VR paper does not include all the types which might appear in the final test. (Bear in mind that the samples are also considerably easier than the real thing.)

I wouldn't worry about it. People in areas which just have VR in their 11+ are very focused on which types will/won't appear and some advocate not spending time on types which won't appear. I've gone through the 11+ three times in recent years without ever knowing exactly which types appear in the Bexley test. I do think it's good to prepare children for the unexpected and does them no harm to think about types which may not appear in the real thing.
