YOUNG WRITERS

Post by mog »

Hi does anyone know more about Young Writers - a publishing company that puts children's work into a book?

My daughter has had a mini saga accepted and the book will cost £14.99 to buy? Has anyone seen these books before?

All thoughts welcome!

Her piece is going into the county book and we too can buy a copy for £15.00!!

Or buy two and get one free - bargain

My DS has just had his 50 word story published in the Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire publication.
While I do agree that it is a money making exercise for the publishers,it's still good to see their work in a proper published book!

Are you both buying the book? We know two others at her school have had a Mini Saga accepted. Do they eventually end up on Amazon so are then much cheaper!!

Are you impressed with it? I initially said no I am not parting with £14.99 but now I feel bad. I want to see her work in the book.

And that is precisely what they are counting on!

Over the years a few people have mentioned this sort of thing in Appeal cases: "Oh, he's had a poem/story published - I do think I should mention it at the appeal."

Errrrm, ... no ...

I have reached the point where I think that it is almost exploiting both children and adults. On the other hand, it would be a brave parent who said "no".

Oh it's definite exploitation of the parents and grandparents.

I'm surprised actually that the schools indulge them as it's so blatant.

But we shall be buying a copy

Exploited of North Yorkshire
