School Bus fares

Why are they so extortinate? Really chuffed as DC got an offer to first choice indie - but the school bus fare adds another Â£450+ per term to already high fees - its not even that far away! Is this the going rate?

Â£450 per term for bus travel is a large sum of money. Is it possible for DC to travel by public transport?

It does seem to be the going rate...can you share transport runs with another parent?

I suppose it depends where the school is. If it's in the back of beyond public transport might not be an option. Could anyone share lifts with you, or you pay a parent to take your child?

Okay, so I think I might know which school you mean. Could you ask this school to put you in contact with another parent living near you?

Hadn't thought of that - sounds like a good idea. But just what is typical for bus fares (or train fares for that matter?)

Sorry, I have no experience of how much they cost, but I do know that they're expensive.

That does seem an awful lot. For only Â£105 a term a child (11-15 plus 16-18's in full time education with a photocard) can get unlimited travel (including evenings & weekends) on all the buses & trains in the West Midlands Met county - did wonders for my DS2's social life!
