Have just re-read this book and had forgotten how good it is. DS1 is now 11 and is completely LH and we couldn't work out why he found cutting bread so hard - now we know

Sorry if this is advertising but it is really helpful to us righties who have a leftie child.

(Please don't take offence at the term "leftie" but that is how we have always referred to it and it is a term of endearment in our house)

I quite like "south paw" - sounds rather cute and cuddly - more interestingly originated in US baseball. Ballparks were traditionally built with the homeplate on the western corner and so the arm of a left handed pitcher would be closest to the south.

You have a distinct advantage over us. DH and I are both RH. LH comes from late father-in-law and as nobody else is LH some things have been interesting to say the least - ties and shoelaces were a learning curve

DH, DS and DD are all lefties. I'm the odd one out!

I have never read that book and, apart from a problem playing hockey (my son), being left-handed has never been an issue for any of them. I'm interested in reading the book, however.

That must be because you can't use the rounded side of the stick to hit the ball - but you can reverse sticks can't you?

Well, I might be wrong here, but it's something like that although you can get left-handed ones they're not allowed to use them as professionals have to play right-handed. Son finds it very difficult but has been told that he has to play as a right-hander. As he hates sports anyway, it's not the end of the world.
